Formed in 1927 Seibu Electric has grown into a major manufacturing company with its headquarters in Fukuoka, Japan. The modern history of the company goes back to 1986 when it took on its current identity and floated on the Fukuoka Stock Exchange, later joining the Osaka Securities Exchange and the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Its EDM division has long been a pioneer of new technologies, for example in 1972 Seibu developed the world’s first CNC wire cut EDM, in 1995 it brought the high-speed auto wire feeding device to customers and in 2013 launched the innovative Core Stitch process, which is eliminating any requirement for a cutting off process, thereby greatly reducing process time.

Unlike many of its contemporaries, Seibu continues to manufacture all of its products in Japan, in doing this it can maintain control over quality, performance and delivery, ensuring customers achieve higher productivity, streamlined logistics, higher efficiency, energy-savings, and automation across many industry sectors.
